Nancy Steinhaus and the Bayliss Public Library received the Historical Society of Michigan's top awards for the preservation of Upper Peninsula History on June 26 at the 61th Annual Upper Peninsula History Conference.

Three students from Michigan reached the top tier of competitors making the final rounds of competition at the 2010 National History Day competition in College Park, MD.

Kevin Butler, 5-6th grade teacher from Dollar Bay-Tamarack Area Schools, has been awarded the 2010 National History Day Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year Award for Michigan.

The Historical Society of Michigan's 61st annual Upper Peninsula History Conference takes place June 25 through 27 in Menominee.



April 24, 2010 - 2010 Michigan History Day State Champions Announced


Michigan elementary, middle, and high school students received top honors at the Michigan History Day State Finals on Saturday, April 24, at The Henry Ford in Dearborn.

The Historical Society of Michigan is pleased to name Patricia A. Majher the new editor of Michigan History magazine and Douglas D. Fisher the assistant editor.



October 2, 2009 - 2009 State History Awards


The Historical Society of Michigan's annual state history awards were presented at the 135th Annual Meeting and State History Conference held on Mackinac Island, October 2-4.



September 18, 2009 - Michigan History Magazine Moving to State Historical Society


The Historical Society of Michigan and the Michigan Department of History, Arts and Libraries are pleased to announce that an agreement has been signed to transfer Michigan History magazine from the Department to the Society effective October 1.
