July-September 5, Detroit: The Detroit Historical Society continues its popular film series every weekend this summer with popular films from the past covering a range of Detroit history. The Plymouth Historical Museum will be holding a Jewelry Evaluation Day fundraiser with appraisers from Joseph DuMouchelle International Auctioneers, Appraisers & Estate Buyers in Grosse Pointe Farms from 11am to 5pm. The experts will evaluate, as well as purchase, your gold, platinum, diamond, and estate jewelry both antique and modern. In addition, they are also interested in purchasing sterling silver flatware and hollow ware (no silver plate please). Appraisals are by appointment only and time slots fill up quickly. The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is hosting a grand celebration marking 85 years of Chrysler heritage and honoring four automotive and entertainment icons. Aug. 7-8: Port Sanilac
Port Sanilac Civil War Days will take place August 7 and 8, 2010 on the grounds of the Sanilac County Historic Village and Museum. Hosted by the Port Sanilac Downtown Development Authority, in conjunction with the 21st Michigan Volunteer Infantry, Co, H, the event promises a wide array of activities for Civil War buffs of all ages. Highlights will include military demonstrations, exhibits, educational talks, participatory activities such as games, and musical performances. This is the second year for this event. Saturday, August 7 the festivities begin at 10 am and continue on into the evening. Sunday, August 8 there will be activities from 10 am until 4 pm. There is no charge to visitors who wish to participate, so round up the family and come join in the fun!

Have you ever seen 1,000 rubber duckies racing on Belleville Lake? You will soon! The Belleville Area Historical Society, in conjunction with the Belleville Rotary Club, is sponsoring the first-ever "Lucky Ducky Rubber Duckie Race on Belleville Lake" at 7pm after the Bridge Walk at Taste of Belleville. Ducks will race from Denton Road Bridge to the Belleville Road Bridge. Ducks cost $5 each or five for $20. All proceeds benefit the Belleville Area Museum. The Wyandotte Historical Society holds its annual Victorian Tea featuring characters from The Mad Hatter Tea Party in the MacNichol Home. Tea, finger sandwiches, scones, and desserts will be served on the porch and grounds of the home at noon, 1:30pm, and 3pm. A professional photographer will be available to take pictures of you with your favorite Mad Hatter character.
