The Purple Gang Strikes Again - An interactive murder mystery/dinner theater event, set in 1931 and based on Detroit's own Purple Gang. Sponsored by the Belleville Area Historical Society to benefit the Belleville Area Museum on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at 5:30 PM at Johnny's Grill, 146 High Street, Belleville, Mi. Donation of $35.00 includes dinner and the murder. Seating is extremely limited and advance ticket purchase is highly recommended. (The June 3, 2008, is completely SOLD OUT.) The Imlay City Historical Commission is sponsoring a Blueberry Pie and Ice Cream Social during the Imlay City Blueberry Festival on August 1 and 2, 2008. Also for sale will be whole blueberry pies, blueberry muffins, blueberry cookbooks, as well as historic research material. In honor of Memorial Day, the Midland County Historical Society will present an exhibit entitled Welcome Home Brother, Welcome Home. The exhibit explores the story of one local Vietnam War veteran and former Midland County resident Bruce Bowland, and describes his service in Vietnam as a Ranger in the 101st Airborne. The exhibit, located in the Atrium of the Herbert D. Doan Midland County History Center at 3417 West Main Street in Midland, will be open to the public free of charge from May 22 to June 22, 2008. MIDLAND - History enthusiasts will have an opportunity to learn about shipping disasters on the Great Lakes at a new Midland County Historical Society exhibit entitled "Great Lakes Titanics: Shipwrecks on the Inland Seas." The exhibit will be on display May 17 through August 31 at the Herbert D. Doan Midland County History Center, 3417 West Main Street in Midland. Shipwrecks have claimed many lives and vessels on the Great Lakes and this exhibit will highlight some of the well-known disasters during the past 100 years.
